This is what I love about Winter. You wake up in the middle of the night, maybe just to pee or get water or something, look out the window and see this. It’s so beautiful. And it’s silent; you have no idea that it’s happening until you just look. It almost seems fake. And it makes your bed seem way more comfortable, for whatever reason.
Death doesn’t make a terrible person respectable.

I said it before it came out, but now it’s out my fears were confirmed.
Sims 4 is a half made game that is being sold at extortionate rates to die hard fans. EA’s website is attempting to sell it for £50-60, the most expensive base version of a PC game I’ve ever seen. I saw the warning signs when the last few expansions of Sims 3 started to become more and buggy, badly optimized and also a ripoff in comparison to previous versions from Sims 2 (university expansions are the prime example).
It was withheld from reviewers until day of release, something which didn’t make sense until it was revealed how many ridiculous bugs still existed in the game (e.g. fences were reading as rooms and crashing the game, babies went into your house inventory and then multiplied for no reason). These were bugs that clearly were never beta tested, as most of them were obvious to heck and discovered within hours of people playing.
Why is it half made? Who knows, their reasoning was that they didn’t want people to wait longer for the game to put in more features. Sadly, a lot of those features existed in previous Sims games, and have now been removed. Here’s the list, but ridiculous ones include:
- no terrain tools past a paintbrush, everything is flat
- no ‘normal’ jobs (police, banking)
- lot space as restrictive as SimCity was
- a neighborhood that won’t procreate naturally and will therefore die out unless you purposely go and tinker with every house
Most of these features may never make it to the game, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a ‘building’ DLC, and a ‘job’ DLC that restores all these features, yet forces you to pay more.
Whilst I want to do another YogSims, I don’t want to give this kind of game publicity. There’s an old PR saying that “any publicity is bad publicity”, so even if I put it on my channel and slated it, people might possibly buy it from my videos - and I don’t want that. That’s giving EA permission to continue this kind of behavior that we also witnessed with Mass Effect 3, Dead Space 3 and Battlefield.
So if you were thinking about getting Sims 4, don’t.
(I might visit Sims 3 Into the Future instead, but need to check into how worthwhile it is, as the save for the previous YogSims won’t copy over, since I’ll need to remove a few expansions like Island Paradise and Uni Life, which are causing the game to struggle to run.)
